TOP AMERICAN CONTENTS RESTORATION TRAINING COMPANY HOLDS WORKSHOP WITH CANADIAN CONTRACTORS TO HELP GROW THE BOTTOM LINE
Frontline Technicians, Business Owners Learned and Refreshed Critical Skills
to Improve Frontline Processes, Behind-the-Scenes Efficiency
SIMI VALLEY, CA – January 28, 2011 – Total Contentz, one of the industry’s top contents restoration training and consulting companies, conducted a large workshop hosted by Canada’s Canstar Restorations and the Canadian Disaster Restoration Group (CDRG) on January 10-11.
Forty-three front line workers, owners and managers attended the Contents Processing & Pack Out Workshop at Canstar Restorations’ newly built 30,000-square-foot restoration center in Coquitlam near Vancouver, British Columbia. Most attendees were Canstar employees, but representatives from 7 other organizations also attended.
Increasing profit margins by addressing all aspects of the business
A wide variety of contents restoration professionals – from brand new frontline workers to 30-year management veterans – learned the newest techniques to increase their company’s profit margin and stay ahead of the competition, including:
· Streamlining contents-handling systems and processes from four critical perspectives – facility, personnel, equipment/supplies and systems
· Learning specific packing and storing techniques to dramatically decrease breakage, losses and liabilities – from tiny figurines to antiques and grand pianos – that make you a favorite of insurance companies
· Implementing digital photo inventory
· Improving the speed of claims processing
· Learning the latest restoration and deodorizing techniques, including using ultrasonic cleaning technology and assembly line procedures
A significant competitive advantage
“It’s simply a fact of our industry right now that the restoration professionals who aren’t doing contents work are working less,” said Barb Jackson, CR, founder and owner of Total Contentz. “Companies who can provide high-quality restoration and processing, save the insurance companies money and effectively restore the insureds their belongings have a significant competitive advantage. We are thrilled that such a wide variety of professionals were able to benefit from our training in Vancouver. Canstar’s new facility was perfect for hands-on training.”
Lead by Contents Manager Debbie Taylor, Canstar’s Contents Restoration Division utilizes the best equipment, efficiency design and organizational tools available. Now in its third location, the division has grown from a small modified space to a 30,000-square-foot facility that can handle all types of content.
“Frontline technicians always benefits from new techniques and hands-on training, but those of us who are behind the scenes, working with clients and the insurance companies and processing the paperwork, also benefit from looking at our business with fresh eyes,” said Art Johnson, CR, WLS, operations manager for Canstar Restorations, Inc. and CDRG’s regional director for Western Canada. “The workshop reinforced the skills our employees need to fulfill our commitment to provide consistent, high-quality service and results.”
